In return for being allowed to participate in rides or other activities sponsored by the Portland Bicycling Club (PBC), I, the undersigned, and my executors, successors, and assigns hereby agree that under no circumstance will a claim be made for negligence or gross negligence, for any damages for personal injury, property damage or loss, wrongful death, or any other injury or loss incurred during or arising out of participation in any PBC-sponsored ride or activity against the PBC, its members, ride leaders, officers, agents and sponsors. I fully acknowledge that cycling is an inherently dangerous sport due to risks of serious bodily injury, permanent disability, and death. I also acknowledge that social activities carry risks of illness and death due to communicable diseases, either bacterial or viral. Given that cycling is extraordinarily challenging I further acknowledge that I am in sound medical condition capable of participating without risk to myself or others. I understand and agree that for my personal safety, I am required to wear an ASTM, CPSC, or Snell approved bicycle helmet. I understand that I may be asked to leave a ride if I fail to ride safely, legally, and courteously. I further understand that injury while riding an electric bicycle that fails to meet the definition of a low-speed E-bike as defined by the consumer product safety commission or use of an electric bicycle that can provide forward motion without pedaling (a throttle or twist-assist bike) is excluded for medical benefits under PBC's general liability insurance policy. Photographs and video may be taken during PBC-sponsored activities. By signing this waiver, I agree that my image or likeness may be used in promotion and marketing of PBC and its events. I am 18 years of age or older and have read and understand the terms of this agreement. NOTE: If the named entrant is a minor, then a legal guardian must sign for them. Unaccompanied minors whose guardian does not have a signed Release of Claims on file with the PBC may not participate in PBC activities.
